SHE SHED VS. MAN SHED

With Valentines Day just around the corner let's have a little fun exploring the latest and hottest trend... SHE SHED's and MAN CAVES.

Versus

Obviously Feburary 14th is meant to bring couples closer together, and yet the trend for today's contemporary couple is to seek solace in a place designed specifically for their own inner self. It's design intent is an off limits hideaway from their better half, or ying, or yang,  or soulmate...etc.

Man caves are often found in the basement, attic or garage. Usually a man cave has a great sound system, a state of the art refrigerator, sports paraphernalia, masculine furniture, a bar, a tool cabinet, a large flat screen TV or TV's,  and/or gaming systems as some of it's featured amenities.

She Shed's are usually separate from the home. They can be customized and built from the ground up or as the name suggests renovated from an existing shed in the yard. Perhaps, the mower, blower, and garden tools were once stored here. But not any longer, as woman are commandeering  these spaces and turning them into a secluded escape.

While a man cave focuses on high tech gadgetry, sound amplification, heightening stimulation, as a source of relaxation,  a she shed tends to be more simplistic and focused on decorative landscaping. They are usually close to the garden or flower beds right in the back yard. They function as a craft work shops, reading recluses,  and yoga retreats just to name a few. Women have reported feeling stressed from working full time, managing  the household, and the demands of child rearing. Hence, the arrival of the she shed, a sanctuary away from home, toys, and work remodeled and designed with a feminine touch.

Whether a man cave which is part of the house or a she shed in the back yard, make sure the wiring, plumbing, and structure are up to building codes so that you can enjoy your "get away" in the peace of mind for which it was intended. And don't forget to spend time together too!!!
